Brief overview:
Department of Immunology and Molecular Biology was established with aim to facilitate teaching and learning of basic concepts of cancer biology, immunology with emphasis on immunity to cancers and principles of cancer immunotherapy for the postgraduate students of the institute, providing immunological and molecular diagnostic services for the patients of this hospital, conducting immunological and molecular researches related to cancers and to introduce immunotherapy for cancers. Since its establishment in 2008, the department is continuing academic activities for the students. It is providing diagnostic services e.g. serum tumour markers, HPV DNA etc. It has established a PCR laboratory and has a plan to establish a sequencing laboratory to conductresearches and provide more diagnostic services to facilitate targeted cancer treatment. According to the organogram, the department is led by an Associate Professor. Other faculty positions include one Assistant Professor and two Lecturers. It has position for one Medical Technologist (Laboratory).
